Date Calculations: More Useful Than You'd Think

Date Difference
The difference between two dates is simply the number of calendar days between them. To find it, subtract the earlier date from the later date. The challenge is that months have 28, 29, 30, or 31 days, and years have 365 or 366 days. Counting by hand introduces errors; a calculator applies the Gregorian calendar rules precisely. The result in days can be converted to weeks (÷7), months (÷30.44, which is the average month length), and years (÷365.2425).
Adding Days to a Date
Adding days to a date is used in many contexts: calculating a payment due date, finding when a 30-day free trial expires, determining a delivery date, or scheduling a follow-up. The calculation rolls over month and year boundaries correctly. Adding 30 days to January 15 gives February 14; adding 30 days to November 15 gives December 15, and so on. Subtracting days works the same way in reverse.
Business Days vs Calendar Days

Business day calculations are more complex and jurisdiction-specific, as they require knowing which days are holidays in a particular country or state.
